All of us here at Wild Thyme care very much about our planet and we make every effort to support sustainability and make ethical choices when it comes to running our business. We recycle all of our glass and tins that we use in the kitchen, we regularly recycle all our cardboard from weekly deliveries and we have recycled paper bags if you forget yours when you're shopping :)

If you have been to our shop then you may have also visited our lovely takeaway where we sell fresh juices, smoothies and healthy treats plus soup and hot meals everyday :) We have a bar area for eating in but we also have all of our delicious offerings available as take away! We get all of our packaging from Vegeware who make takeaway containers entirely from plants not plastic, it's completely compostable after use and can be recycled with food waste! Even the forks, spoons & knives are made from plants, how amazing is that!

Check out this little info graphic showing how they make these clever little boxes :)

So basically Bagasse is the fibrous matter that remains after sugarcane or sorghum stalks are crushed to extract their juice leaving a dry pulpy residue. It is also used as a biofuel and in the manufacture of pulp and building materials. So it's a byproduct of sugar production and it is being cleverly used in a number of ways and it's all plant based baby... yeh! Thanks Vegeware :)

Every day our choices can make a difference so lets contribute towards positive change with the littles things we do everyday, sometimes a little goes a long way :) So next time you visit us for a tasty take away lunch you can relax in the knowledge that your footprint is a little lighter one lunch at a time :)

Here is a wee video if you want to find out more about the Vegeware's processes
